FAQ
You’ve got questions.
You’re In Good Company.
-
In Good Company is a private senior concierge and companionship service designed to help older adults stay connected, engaged, and actively involved in their lives. We combine meaningful companionship with outings, everyday support, new experiences, movement, creativity, reflection, and fun—all guided by a personalized Good Life Plan.
-
Someone who could use a little more life in their life. They may live alone, have family who can’t always be there, be adjusting to retirement or loss, want to get out more, miss old hobbies or relationships, or simply want someone enjoyable to share experiences with.
-
It’s our personalized approach to getting to know the person behind the age. We learn what they enjoy, what they miss, who matters to them, what they would like to experience, and what makes a really good day. From there, we create meaningful ways to bring more connection, purpose, curiosity, and enjoyment into everyday life.
-
Every person and every day is different. We might grab coffee or lunch, take a walk, shop, visit a museum, work on a hobby, attend an appointment, try something new, reconnect with a friend, sit outside, cook, create something, or simply have a great conversation. The goal isn’t to stay busy. It’s to keep living.
-
Podzy was founder Kelley’s dad’s word for his golf partners. At In Good Company, a Podzy is the person beside you for the experience—part companion, part concierge, and all good company.
-
Your trust matters. Every Podzy is CPR and First Aid certified, fingerprinted and background checked, has senior care experience, and maintains reliable, safe transportation with appropriate insurance. Beyond those requirements, we look for people who genuinely enjoy spending time with older adults and understand the dignity, independence, and individuality at the heart of In Good Company.
-
No. In Good Company is a nonmedical senior concierge and companionship service that differs from traditional home care. Podzys do not provide skilled nursing, medical treatment, bathing, dressing, or other hands on personal care.
-
Every situation is different. In Good Company may be appropriate for individuals experiencing memory changes who can safely participate in our companionship and activities. Because we are a nonmedical service, we’ll talk with you about your loved one’s needs, abilities, safety, and level of support before determining whether we’re the right fit.
-
Absolutely. In Good Company can complement the support an older adult already receives from family, home care providers, healthcare professionals, or other services. Our role is different: we focus on companionship, connection, experiences, engagement, and meaningful living. When appropriate and with the client’s permission, we can coordinate with others involved in their support.
-
Our focus is companionship, engagement, meaningful living, and concierge support—not medical or hands on personal care. If a client’s needs change, we’ll communicate with the client and family and can work alongside their existing home care, healthcare, or other support providers when appropriate.
-
Yes. Transportation can be incorporated into planned outings, appointments, errands, and experiences when appropriate. We’ll discuss transportation needs during the initial conversation so everyone knows what to expect.
For longer distance travel, we also offer Homeward Journeys, a separate travel companion service designed for medically stable older adults who need a trusted companion when traveling 300+ miles by air. Homeward Journeys is priced separately and is not included in In Good Company memberships or hourly services.
-
Absolutely. Many families want their loved one to have more connection and experiences but simply can't be there as often as they'd like. With the client's permission, we can keep designated family members informed and involved while always respecting the older adult's privacy, independence, dignity, and preferences.
-
In Good Company serves older adults throughout Powell and select Central Ohio communities. Because our Podzys spend time out in the community with clients, availability may vary based on location. Contact us to see if we currently serve your area.
-
No. Memberships are ideal for people who want consistent visits and something regularly on the calendar, but Good Company, As Needed is also available at $75 per hour, subject to availability. Membership clients receive 20% off additional hourly time.
-
Membership visits are three hours. This provides enough time to enjoy an outing, activity, meal, appointment, or meaningful time together without feeling rushed.
-
Yes. Membership pricing is per person. A membership covers one individual and cannot be shared between two people. A Podzy can spend time with up to two clients together, such as spouses or friends, when appropriate; however, each person must have their own membership or service arrangement. Contact us if you’re interested in scheduling shared visits for two people so we can determine the best option.
-
In Good Company is a private pay service and does not bill or accept Medicare, Medicaid, or private health insurance. Memberships are automatically billed monthly via ACH from a checking or savings account. This private pay model allows us to focus on highly personalized companionship, meaningful experiences, and each client’s individual Good Life Plan rather than insurance based care requirements.
-
Because In Good Company is designed to be more than companionship. You’re not simply paying for someone to spend time with your loved one. Each client receives a personalized Good Life Plan and an intentional approach to meaningful living built around connection, movement, creativity, exploration, reflection, relationships, and experiences.
Our Podzys are carefully screened, fingerprinted and background checked, CPR and First Aid certified, experienced with older adults, and equipped with reliable, insured transportation. Visits are personalized and thoughtfully planned around who the person is, what matters to them, and what would make their life feel fuller now.
We’re a private pay, high touch service with a simple goal: not just to fill someone’s time, but to help make that time worth looking forward to.
-
Membership and hourly rates cover your Podzy's time, companionship, and personalized planning. Expenses associated with outings are not included.
Clients are responsible for their own meals, beverages, admission fees, tickets, purchases, parking, and other personal expenses. When your Podzy needs admission or a ticket to participate in a planned activity, the client covers that expense as well.
When sharing a meal or coffee is part of the planned experience, the client covers the Podzy's reasonable meal expense, up to $25 per meal. Personal purchases or expenses unrelated to the planned experience remain the Podzy's responsibility.
Whenever possible, clients pay outing expenses directly. Significant or unusual expenses will always be discussed in advance.
-
We understand that plans sometimes change. With at least 24 hours’ notice, your scheduled visit may be moved to another available day within the same membership month, subject to Podzy availability.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will forfeit that visit and cannot be rescheduled, credited, or refunded. Missed visits and unused membership time do not roll over to future months.
If your Podzy needs to cancel, your visit will always be rescheduled at no additional cost or credited toward a future visit.
We also understand that true emergencies happen. Emergency circumstances may be considered on a case by case basis at our discretion.
-
It begins with a conversation. We’ll learn about you or your loved one, what life looks like today, what’s important, and what you’d like more of. From there, we can determine whether In Good Company feels like the right fit and choose the membership or as needed option that works best.
